PERES JEPCHIRCHIR LEADS A KENYAN SWEEP IN THE HAL MARATHON

In what can be termed as one of the greatest half marathon fields assembled . Olympic marathon Champion was in a class of her own claiming her third half Marathon title . During the race, the olympic champion seemed not interested at all in pushing the pace letting her compatriot Cathrine Reline do the job. Reline pushed the pace for most part pf the race till the leading pack was only left with 4 Kenyans and Ethiopia's Tsige Gebreselama who after former world silver medalist over 5000 meters Margaret Chelimo Kipkemboi  put in a surge in pace. However in the last 200 meters it was Peres Jepchirchir who had the last say claiming her third title. Chelimo finished in second as Long time leader Reline got the bronze. Ethiopia's Gebreselama was only able to get out with a dissapointing fourth place.

SEBASTIAN SAWE BECOMES WORLD ROAD RUNNING CHAMPION

     

Sebastian Sawe was in a class of his own as he upset the pre race favorite, world 10,000 meters silver medalist Daniel Ebenyo and other sub 58 minutes half marathon performers. In a race that saw Kenya clinch a clean sweep of all the medal places , kenyans took the race by its horns from the start. Ebenyo was in the front the whole way as Sawe seemed not intrested in takling the pace. However, near the 45 minute mark, Ebenyo who had Jemal Yimer following him signaled to sawe who went across the road to get his drink, Ebenyo then put a blistering injection of pace covering 5 kilometers in a staggering 13.33 . This proved to be too much for mekonen who dropped off. At a point in the race, it seemed as if Ebenyo had rhe race wrapped up, however, in the last 200 Meters , Sawe came from absolutely no where and swept past Ebenyo in the last 80 meters. Ebenyo and Sawa saluted each other as Sawe passed him . Sawe then increased the pace more to win in a time of 59.09, A tired figure of Ebenyo followed closely as Samuel Mailu closed the podium resulting to a kenyan 1,2,3. Jemal Yimer the fastest man in the field finished a dissapointing fourth.

AGNES JEBET BREAKS WOMEN ONLY 10 KM RECORD

Kenya's Agnes Jebet Ngetich ran a spectacular race  at the Trunsylvania 10km, clocking 29:24 at the World Athletics Elite Label road race held on Sunday (10). In a very fast paced race, Ngetich overtook the pace maker and infact reached the half way point at 14.25 which is faster than the women only world record. This perfomance from her placed her as the 2nd fastest woman overall  behind Yemzeref Yehualaw who has ran two times quicker, 29.14 and 29.19. Weldon Langat took the top owners in the Mens race with the former world under 20 champion Edward Pingua Zakayo finishing as the runner up .

FERDINAND OMANYALA GETS SWEET REVENGE AGAINST SEVILLE

In a hotly contested race in Zagreb, a world continental tour Gold, Ferdinand Omanyala finally got his revenge winning in a time of 9.94 against a head win of -0.9 m/s . Jamaica's Oblique Seville had beaten him twice not counting in the World championships final. In the same race, Olimpic champion Lomont Marcell Jacobs finished in 3rd as Abdul Hakin Sani brown finished in fifth. Jamaica's 2023 100 meters champion Rohan Watson finished a distant sixth. Omanyala now switches focus to the diamond league finals in Eugene Oregon from the 16 to 17 September before calling it a year.

BEATRICE CHEPKOECH BREAKS WORLD RECORD

Although the 2000 meters steeple chase  is not a hotly contested event,  Beatrice Chepkoech destroyed a stellar field to win and break the world record running 5.47.42 in a continental tour gold in Zagreb. She had earlier broken the world record during the 3000 meters steeplechase when she broke the world record .

She now becomes a double world record holder for both the 3000 and 2000 meters steeple chase.

FAITH KIPYEGON REIGHNS SUPREME IN LOBO VILLAGE

The double world and Olympic champion over the 1500 Meters upset a field consisting of Commonwelth champion over 3000 meters steeplechase Jackline Chepkoech and Zena Jemutai to win the seniour women cross country title in 33.50 in the Sirikwa cross country meet. 

CHARLES LOKIR SHINES IN LOBO VILLAGE

In the 2023 Sirikwa Classic gold continental tour that was held in Lobo village in Eldoret, Charles Lokir managed to upset a major field to take the victory in the seniour Men 10 kilometers race. In a well calculated race where he took advantage of a hill and opened a huge gap that no one was able to cross till he finished the race in 30.14. Joseph Kiprotich bagged second position in 30.19 as Dennis Kipngetich grabbed the last podium position in 30.21 .

ALL SET AND READY FOR THE SIRIKWA WORLD CROSS COUNTRY TOUR

Thousands of runners from countries such as Ethiopia, Sweden and other countries are set and ready to compete at the Sirikiwa Classic cross country race that will be held on Saturday of February 4 2023. The historic Cross country race that has been ongoing for 31 years will be held in Eldoret Sprots club in Uasingishu county. 

RUTH CHEPNGETICH DESTOYS ELITE FIELD TO WIN CROSS COUNTRY RACE

In a race held at Kenya prisons training collage in Ruiru, Kenya, Ruth chepngetich destroyed a competitive field comprising of Sheila Chepkirui, Zena Jemutai and African 10,000 meters champion Caroline Nyaga .  She won the World cross country bronze tour in 32 minutes 56 seconds. sheila chepkirui finished in second as former World under 20 medalist Zena Jemutai settled for third. Caroline Nyaga finished in fifth place.

Jake Wightman takes gold in the 1500 Meters

Great Britains Jake Wightman upset the Olympic champion Jakob ingerbritsen to take the 1500 meters world crown. Spain’s Mohammed Katir took bronze in the event. Defending champion Timothy Cheruiyot finished in 6 th place as Abel Kipsang the world leader finished in 7 nth place.
