Although the 2000 meters steeple chase is not a hotly contested event, Beatrice Chepkoech destroyed a stellar field to win and break the world record running 5.47.42 in a continental tour gold in Zagreb. She had earlier broken the world record during the 3000 meters steeplechase when she broke the world record .

She now becomes a double world record holder for both the 3000 and 2000 meters steeple chase.

she had broken the 3000 meters steeple chase world record in 2018 when she ran 8.44.42 in Monaco diamond league 2018
